French frigate downs missile close to Belgian navy ship Primula
A French frigate intercepted the missile in October as the Primula sailed through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to Defence, the ship was probably not the target.
A French frigate shot down a ballistic missile in October near the Belgian minehunter Primula, De Morgen revealed. Defence confirmed the incident to VRT NWS. The Primula was sailing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait off Yemen, presumably on its way to the Strait of Hormuz.
According to VRT NWS, it is unlikely that the Belgian ship was the target. Het Nieuwsblad writes that the incident took place in mid-October and that complete radio silence applies on board, which explains why it is only coming out now. HLN quotes voices describing a serious threat to the crew.
